Paris is known across the world for its monuments and museums, like the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, and the Champs-Élysées. But if you want to see something else, something not all tourists necessarily see, here are some tips about what to see and where to go – and, most importantly, what to eat!

If you grew up in a town that you’ve since left behind to pursue further education, find a job or travel the world, and only visit during the main holiday seasons, going back to your hometown can feel really strange. It’s been ten years since I moved away and a lot has changed in my old hometown, making me an odd mix between a tourist and a local.

President Niinistö did what many predicted he would, and won Sunday’s presidential election, becoming the first candidate to win the race in the first round since Finland started electing presidents by direct election in 1994. Niinistö’s final score was 62.7%, clearly above the 50% threshold needed to win the race outright. The Greens candidate Pekka Haavisto came in second with 12.4% of the vote, before the Finns party Laura Huhtasaari (6.9%) and the independent candidate Paavo Väyrynen (6.2%).

Finland is currently preparing to elect the head of state for the next six years. The first round will take place on Sunday the 28th January and the potential second round on the 11th February. If you’re still undecided about who to vote for, here are all the candidates and what they stand for.

I’ve been putting off writing an article for a good few months now because I’ve had zero ideas. Zilch. Nada. Nothing says November like elections. Members for the HYY Representative Council were elected last week and the results are in.
